Hotels versus the Summit Resort Hotel in St. Maarten
Summary:
Honest to goodness I'm disappointed over how hotels have evolve through the years. I could name several, and I could pin point the worst. Speculatively, it is because hotels have gone bigger and bigger, accommodations now reach several hundreds while keeping the staff volume at minimal. It is wise market strategy and we give them that. But the downside effect of such large organization is that service becomes more and more distant, more remote, and more ‘packaged.'
It may be a poor term to use but it is the most appropriate. Services are offered now in bulk and sometimes it just doesn't do well to the ones on the receiving end. Take for instance dining over a fancy but large restaurant with several dozens of seating. For every waiter there would be 4 or 5 tables to attend. What will happen if 3 of the tables request for champagne? Will it be first come first serve basis?
Hotel administration may deny the existence of the 'packaged' service but for the customers and guest, this term rightfully embraces the hotel parlance. However some hotels still offer quality service, especially those hotels that have efficiently managed their resources. Naming one would be the Summit Resort Hotel in St. Maarten.
The Summit Resort Hotel in St. Maarten does offer quality and personalized service, I am proud to say. Taking it to the test and every consideration in mind, I asked one of the staff for general directions. Of course, general directions should be very sketchy and ineligible but that staff waited upon me and see if he had understood clearly my request. Asking my room number and name, he politely asked me if I could wait for my answer. So I bit and went back to my room (though it did bum me if my answer was a refusal). After a minute or so, a phone rang and clearly answered every detail of my questions and even offering up a cab. That's what I call efficient and swift service.
Favors like this do add up to the overall hotel value, and suffice to say, the Summit Resort Hotel in St. Maarten do reside higher in my notch. Not only was that inquiry I made just right by the way. Other requests made by my family where also attended swiftly and courteously. Maybe smaller hotels still retain 5 star services since the Summit Resort Hotel in St. Maarten isn't that large a hotel.
