Things to do in Key West
Summary: Read on and see if you have been on these places or did these things.
Chances are when you go to Key West, you already know what you're going to do and where you're heading to. However there are those attractions in Key West that are just as easily missed or simply overlooked. The sunset celebration of Mallory Square or the fishing on the flats, no one misses those fantastic attractions. If missed, usually it is intentional.
But what I'm recommending is the unusual and the queer. Those things aren't normally on travel brochure or tourist guides. So please read on and see if you have been on these places or did these things.
Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden
Nancy Forrester's Secret Garden is a one acre (4,000 mē) garden resembling a lush, predominantly green, rainforest. It is an exhibit of wild nature's artistry in a woodland garden. Though some view it as a typical undeveloped parcel of land in an urban location, others really appreciate how nature has blossomed over the area. Include this destination to your things to do in Key West list. The entrance is very cheap compared to your usual cab fare.
Pirate Soul Museum
Pirate Soul Museum is one history buff's delight; it's also your children's amusement. Chock-full of amazing real artifacts, from flintlock guns to cutlasses to sextant, pirate scalpel and even the feared Jolly Roger flag! Bring your family, especially your children; assuredly they will have a good time in Pirate Soul Museum.
Audubon House & Tropical Gardens
The Audubon House & Tropical Gardens is the perfect educational environment for family visitors of all ages. It was slated for demolition in 1958 but the house was saved by the Mitchell Wolfson Family Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit educational institution. This was the first restoration project in Key West, and is still considered the gem of the island's restoration movement.
Gay and Lesbian Community Center
Ok, this crosses the line. But hey, it's not everyday you can find a community center such as this. So while you're at Key West, this should be a definite addition to your things to do in Key West list.
Have you tried biking all over Key West? That definitely should take a space in your things to do in Key West list. You see, there's just lot of things to do in Key West, aside from the normal attractions. Have you been to the Butterfly & Nature Conservatory that features a 5,000 square foot (460 mē) glass-domed tropical butterfly habitat? The Mel Fisher Maritime Museum that showcases gold, silver, and treasure recovered from shipwrecks around the world is a must see too. Also some tourists mingle with the locals, shop, and dine at the Key West Historic Seaport at the Key West Bight.
